Figs are among the richest plant sources of calcium and fiber. The fully ripe fig has a bell or a pear shape with succulent flesh.
Handling and Storage
Dried figs can be stored in the refrigerator. They are very perishable when they are fresh. Keep them in the refrigerator for up to five days. The skin is very fragile and will scar and tear easily. Frozen figs can be sealed in a bag or a container and kept in the freezer for up to six months.

Dried figs are available year round. Black Mission Figs are available late May to June and late July. Green Kadota Figs are available late July to the end of September.
