Satsuma

A seedless and easily peeling citrus.  Satsumas originated in Japan.  They are smaller than typical orange.  Their skin is leathery and dotted with large and prominent oil glands, which are lightly attached to the fruit, enabling it to be easily peeled.  They are orange in color.

Handling and Storage
Delicate skin – handle with care.  Look for satsumas with firm, tight peels, with no hollow-feeling or dented spots.  Heavier ones are generally juicier.  Store at room temperature or keep in the refrigerator for only a few days.  Keeping them in the refrigerator for too long will dry them out.
