Pear shaped fruit of a deciduous tree.  The fruit is edible when cooked, often times the fruit is used for an ornament.  Most are too hard and sour to eat raw.  Often times they are baked or made into jams and jellies.  The flesh turns red after cooking.

Handling and Storage
Look for firm, unblemished fruit.  They keep will at room temperature and will last for a few weeks.
